A real treat on the blog today. One of the most important bands ever (of any genre) doing a live show in the UK at a full on rave.
I remember reading that there was a Detroit tent. All the Detroit DJs stated that they would not be on at the same time as Kraftwerk as to most Dteroit artists Kraftwerk are their biggest inspiration.
This is apart from poor Carl Craig who had to do his soundcheck whilst they were on.
Its chill out Sunday on the blog. Today as I'm dedicating this week to Universe / Tribal Gathering I have a treat for you.
I will be posting the live set from the legendary Kraftwerk live at Tribal Gathering. I never made to to this rave. But my cousin did and raved about it.
Mixmag are doing a poll of the greatest dance act of all time. It looks like it will be a two horse between Kraftwerk and Daft Punk.
Continuing Universe / Tribal gathering week here is a classic live set from there by David Morales. Its got that fab US house vibe he is known for. The set includes one of my favourite remixes of all time. Mariah Carey - Dream Lover (David Morales def mix).
I seem to remember that David Morales asked to play at Trade one NYE in the early 90s. Supposedly he was thrown off the decks for clearing the floor. I always wanted to know if this is true or another clubland urban myth.
The next few weeks will be focusing on the Tribal Gathering / Universe raves of the 90s. The were the fore runner of the likes of Creamfields and Global Gathering that we have nowadays.
I will be posting mixes throughout the two weeks.
Here is a little something to get things started. Daz Saund at Tribal Gathering 1993.
Ive just noticed that I never put the download link with this post. Sorry about that. See below for link.
This is one of my favourite Essential Mixes ever. To this day it still sounds really current. Lots of fab US style tribal tunes.

I have had exactly 50000 views on the blog since it started a year ago. Many thanks to everyone who has viewed it, sent me lovely messages and the many mixes that have been given.
All mixes that have been sent will be posted in time. I have so many rare sets to posts that I am so excited about sharing them.
As a way of celebrating 50k views I am posting my most treasured and favourite mix of all time (thanks to Paul and Mark). It is from the absolutely legendary Troll @ The Soundshaft from 1991. For those don't know Troll was one of the first gay / mixed house and techno nights in the UK. It was started up by Tim who then went on to start up Trade with Lawrence Malice.
Troll was the club that existed before Trade. The story goes that after Troll people wanted to carry on partying. Therefore Trade was started. To put things into perspective. Trade is seen as being the birthplace of Hard House. Troll was the big sister of Trade.
Ive labelled this mix as being by Daz Saund. Im not 100% it is. It sounds like his style at the time. However, it could have been by Trevor Rockcliffe, Steve B or Luke Slater who were also residents.
I will soon be dedicating a week to Troll. If you have any Troll mixes please get in touch as they are very rare.
Anyway thanks again for all your views on the blog.
It may a bit short notice. But for all you fans of 90s music there is a really cool night on at vogue Fabrics tonight in the very cool Dalston area tonight.
The music is a varied mixture of cool 90s pop and club sounds. Imagine Trash @ the End mixed with GAY. Tonight is the 1st birthday and features the genius Richard X DJing. If you don't know who he is get Googling.
Look on the website for more info and mixes.
I can't make this one but fingers crossed will be at the next one.
This is one of my favourite bouncy hard house mixes. Its by Rob Kinson who was one of the original DJs in the hard room at The Glasshouse.
At one point towards the end of the 90s Hard house totally took over the Leeds club scene. The obvious exceptions being speed Queen and Basics. There were so many nights playing this music.
Who remembers Shatterred @ Digbys, Casa Loco, Base @ Space and Insomniakz at that club by the market. At one point there were even two rival Glasshouse nights. What was that all about?
And how many venues did the Glasshouse get through? Although I loved it at Heaven & Hell I will always have special memories of Digbys. Although at times it was a nightmare to get into. I seem to remember pulling the gay Trade card to get in.
This mix was done for the hard room reunion a few years ago. I have another mix of this night which will be posted soon.
The mix features loads of classic tunes. In particular Phlassh - Frantic theme which is in the running for my all time favourite dance tune. So many happy mornings dancing to that tune in the basement at Heaven & Hell.
If anyone has any Glasshouse mixes form either room please get in touch.
Continuing the boshing Northern Hard House Sundissential / Glasshouse week on the blog. Here is a cracking mix by the SS legend himself Andy Farley. I think this is from SS North. If so the its likely I was there for this set.
SS North was an amazing daytime club on monthly Sundays for all the party people in the North who just didn't want to sleep. The after parties at The Original Glasshouse venue were also amazing. Who remembers the monk on the door?
I remember this being played during a very messy night in the funky room at The Glasshouse. Good times. It fitted perfectly into that room at that time.
I realise that usually Sundays are all about chilling on the blog. However, in honour of Sundissential and The Glasshouse who I am focusing the blog on this week. I have decided that as a one off I will stick to Hard House today.
Here is a link to a bouncy mix done by James Dean who was one of the Sundissential residents in the late 90s. I seem to remember that this mix was a free CD given away with M8 Magazine.
Another biggie in the early days of Sundissential North. This was when you could hear trance, hard house and a little bit of house (early in the day) being played at SS North.
I pretty much stopped going to SS North when they started to just play Hard House exclusively in the main room.
Like any self respecting Trade Baby I need the build up.
One of my favourite Tall Paul remixes. Its got that slightly tougher edge than the original.
I remember Tall Paul playing this at Sundissential North @ Uropa in Leeds. Whats an amazing night. I seem to remember that Paul Oakenfold did the main set following by Tall Paul doing the closing set. TBH Paul Oakenfold was rubbish. Tall Paul wiped the floor with him.
After a full on Trade month. I have decided to go a bit Northern this week. I will be posting loads of mixes and videos relating to the Northern Hard House scene in the 90s. Mainly Sundisssential and The Glasshouse.
To start things of I am posting some Rapture TV segments.
