Tall Paul @ Trade 1993.

Continuing Trade week.  I have a real treat for you.  Its a live set from Tall Paul.  One of the more forgotten Trade DJs.  He was so big on the super club scene that people forget where he came from.  For those that don't know.  He father used to own Turnmills.  This meant that when Tall Paul got his residency at Trade there were accusations of nepotism.

Who cares was always my attitude.  He was a fantastic DJ who's happy' style of trance and house fitted in so well for the closing set.  He was pretty much the Hooj Choons in house DJ at the time.  And I always liked the fact that there was at least one person at Trade each week who was taller than me as well.  He was also a really friendly guy.

  1. Tall Paul used to play as decktition on touchdown, he played old skool hardcore.
Tall Paul/Decktition was a top class DJ, that he was at the centre of one the top gay parties in the world and a leading underground pirate radio station DJ. That straddling of two completely different worlds was perfect for trade, and he knew how to make party he was a great British DJ, top class. Up there with the best of his era, and making great compilations that sold big in the US. Anyone who was there knows trade wasnt just hardhouse, it wasnt just techno, it was house, progressive house, techno, hardtrance, detroit, chicago, old skool hardcore, a real mixture of different sounds, with staples from all the genres that became classics. It was the wide mix of sounds that kept trade interesting, I suspect they got him in to check out what was in his box because while the DJs had their own certain styles they all crossed over and I'm sure they all got inspiration from each other. I'm a big fan of Tall Paul. His essential mix is a classic too.
