Shout To The Top (Club 69 Vocal Mix) - Fire Island Feat. Loleatta Holloway

The first time I went to Speed Queen this was the standout tune of the night for me. It shouldn't really work. A dance remake of a cool Style Council record. However, you put Junior Boys Own and Lolletta Holloway together and its a match made in heaven.

This is a superb mix from Blu Peter at one of the best mixed clubs ever.  Anyone who ever went to  Speed Queen or Vague in Leeds will know how good and outrageous the nights at the Warehouse were.

The promoters Suzy and Kaz were that rare breed of club promoters who mingled with the crowd, joined in and were approachable.  Also, very generous with guest lists!

Nolan Kane - Upstairs at Speed Queen.

Speed Queen was not just about the funky / tuff house on the ground floor.  The upstairs had its own crowd and vibe.  Personally I couldn't spend all night up there.  I did however love starting the night there and popping up occasionally throughout the night.

Personal upstairs favourites include Betty Boo - doin the doo, Stones Roses - Fools Gold and The Ghostbusters theme tune.  Happy times.

This mix captures the more funky / disco vibe from upstairs..
