John OO Flemming - Hardhouse Sessions.

http://www.mediafire.com/?6eb1u6a4eaa8e9g

I have always admired John 00 Flemming.  Even when he was playing at the likes of Trade, Sundissential and The Glasshouse he always stuck true to his passion for quality Trance music.  Something he has stuck to to the present day.

I remember that he used to play regularly at the Sundissential North after parties at the original Glasshouse (before it moved to Lens & Digbys).  They were amazing  nights.  Anyone remember the door host dressed as a monk?

Good for him to not chaining with whatever is fashionable at the time.

Enjoy.

Mrs Wood @ FF 1993

Its been a while since I posted a Mrs Wood mix on here.  This is a peak time banging set from the Queen of 90s Techno.

Think dark driving Techno and Trance on the (then) fairly intimate main dance floor on a Sunday Morning at Turnmills.

I have so many more mixes from her to add over the coming months.

Its a shame that she has retired from clubbing as I would kill to have her play at the upcoming blog club night.

If your reading this Jane pleads think about a DJing comeback.

Enjoy.

Timo Maas - Nosebleed May 1997.

Timo Maas may be known nowadays more for his minimal style.  Its easy to forget that in the 90s his sound was more hard trance.

This mix shows why he was resident at Gatecrasher and Cream, as opposed to his DC10 one from recent years.

I like the way the mix starts of with a bit of the Aphex Twins - Didgeridoo.

Enjoy.

Sounds of Blackness - Everythings Gonna Be Alright (Sasha Remix) [UNRELE...

Wow I never even knew this existed.  One of my favourite S.O.B tunes remixed by Sasha.

Enjoy.

Kevin Saunderson - Direct Drive mix. 1997.

I'm feeling very generous today.  So here is a fab mix.

Its from 1997 by one the founding fathers of techno.  The Inner City legend that is Kevin Saunderson.

The mix starts of housey then progresses onto Techno.

Look out for the amazing mix from Spastik into Professional widow.\\Enjoy.

Junior Vasquez tribute mix.

Keeping things on a gay 90s tip.  Here is a fantastic tribute mix to Junior Vasquez at New Yorks legendary Sound Factory.

Once again I have no details of where this mix came from.  So please get in touch if you know its origin.

Enjoy.

Steve Thomas and Fergie Kiss Fm.

Either today or tomorrow the blog will hit 100000 views.  When I started it two years ago I never thought it would do this well.

To celebrate this and to thank everyone who has been so positive about it I am posting this extra special four part mix.  In particular I would like to thank sharing his time and mixes.

Its a four part live Kiss Fm mix show by Trade DJs Steve Thomas and Fergie.  The show starts of with Steve Thomas on a Housey tip, then gradually progresses onto the hard stuff by Fergie.

There is a small amount of talking by them.  But not enough to detract from the mix.

Enjoy.

LFO - LFO (Leeds warehouse mix)

One of the ultimate bleep tunes from back in the day.

I seem to remember that Steve Wright said that this was the worst record he had ever heard when it was played on his show.

Coming from him I would take that as a compliment.

Enjoy.

Speedqueen Fantasies At The Warehouse Leeds 16th July 2011 Video 5

In honour of the blog being mentioned in this months Mixmag,  During an article about The Leeds Warehouse venue.

Here's a little taster of Speed Queen at The warehouse in full effect.

Enjoy.

Digs and Woosh (DIY) - Melon Bounce 1995.

http://www.mediafire.com/?wmcfpac1y6cyy5h

Time to soften things up a bit.  After posting two banging mixes I want to post something more sunny and Housey.

DIY were a House and Techno traveller sound system that toured in the 90s.  They were part of the Castlemorten raves that led to the laws on outdoor raving being changed.

Unlike most other sound systems (i.e. Spiral Tribe) DIY were mainly US House based.  Although they did have some Techno DJs as part of the set up.  It was a bit of a popular misconception that they only played House at their raves.

I will soon be having a week dedicated to DIY so watch out for more mixes.

Think Malcolm Duffy and Alan Thompson first sets at trade in the early 90s if you want a style comparison.

Enjoy.

Jeff Mills - Slam Club Germany 1996.

Techno Techno Techno.

A mighty mix from one of Detroits Techno legends.

Pure 90s Techno.  Not the pumped House that is labelled Techno nowadays.

Enjoy.

Hatty Lovehearts - Digbys Reunion.

Here is a cracking bouncy Hard House mix from Leeds 90s favourite Hatty Lovehearts.

Hatty was a resident at the Glasshouse in its early years.  When it still played Hard House.

This mix was made to celebrate those insane Sunday mornings when the Glasshouse was at its second venue Lens and Digbys.

Lens and Digbys will always be my favourite venue for the Glasshouse.  From what I can remember it was a wine bar for the 'city' workers in the week.  Then on a Sunday morning it went a bit mental.  Who remembers the library room there?

There was a period of time when the perfect weekend was Bar Fibre followed by Speed Queen followed by The Glasshouse.

When The Glasshouse moved to Heaven and Hell although still good, it wasn't really the same.  However, its location meant that I could slip a few hours in at Basics between Speed Queen and The Glasshouse.

Anyway hope you enjoy this mix.  It will certainly bring back a few bouncy memories.

Enjoy.

Fuelled @ Fire This saturday.

How about this for a line up.  Unusual to see one this good (and tuff) on the London gay scene.  Might even go myself.

If there were line ups each week in London (or Brighton) then I would come out of clubbing retirement.

Its only £7 to get in.  That equals less than £1 per hour.

See you on the dance floor.

Deep Dish @ Sundissential - Pacha Ibiza 1998.

Here we have a bit of an oddity.  Its a live set from Washington DC House legends Deep Dish live at Pacha Ibiza.

So far so good.

However, its for the Sundissential night at Pacha.  Sundissential was a Hard House and Trance night from Leeds and Birmingham.  Why it put on a house night at Pacha i really have no clue.  As the three aspects to this mix really don't make sense.

But, the proof is in the pudding as they say.  And the result of this odd mix is a fantastic set by Deep Dish.  Who cares about the whys and wherefores of how this came about.

I loved going to Sundissential North in Leeds.  Ironically the only things I felt was missing from making it the perfect night (Sunday afternoon really) was a house DJ at the start to warm things up.  I did used to find walking starlight into HH a bit disconcerting.

Enjoy.

Trade FM - Daz Saund and Tall Paul.

This might just be one of the rarest mixes ever posted on this blog.  Its from an early 90s Trade late night take over on Kiss 100fm.

It features mixes from Daz Saund and Tall Paul.  Somewhere I think that I have the Malcolm Duffy and Tony De Vit parts of the show.

Anyway hope you like this mix.

Enjoy.

Interesting article about DJ / Producer - Gemini.

Just found this very interesting article about Chicago legend Gemini.  For those that don't know of him.  Think early to mid 90s Malcolm Duffy sets.

Enjoy.

Sequential - Prophet

One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever made.

Enjoy.

Ian M mix for Convergance.

Time to really toughen things up.  Although this mix by the Dark Lord himself is fairly new.  Its packed full of 90s HH classics.  mixed in Ian's unbeatable style.

Enjoy.

EON / Baby Ford mix.

Here is something a bit different.  Its a Baby Ford / Eon tribute mix.  Not sure who made it, if you know who did please let me know so that I can credit them.

For those that don't know Eon and Babyford were UK Techno pioneers.  Their tunes were massive down Troll and the like.

Enjoy.

Fergie - The Hard House Project.

Another Fergie mix to wet your appetite.  I think its probably from Sundissential.

Enjoy.

Here we have a two part mix by Sven Vath from 1995.  Its from something called Cherry Moon?

Anyway Enjoy.

Fergie @ Trade Closing Party 2008.

Here is a real bit of Trade history.  Its the last set that Fergie ever played at Turnmills.  It was for the Trade closing party there.

If you go on Fergies podcast you can find the same mix, but with him talking about his Trade memories over the top.  Its also worth a listen.

Enjoy

Outrage - That Piano Track

One of his more well known tunes.

Enjoy.

The Aloof - On A Mission (Fabio Paras Remix)

Another excellent Fabi Paras production.  One of my favourite Progressive House tunes.

Enjoy.

Sound Clash Republic - Hypnotic Eastern Rhythm

One of Fabi Para excellent productions.

Enjoy.

Fabi Paras - 1992 Rhumba.

When I started the blog.  One of the aims of it was to see what happened to some of those well known DJs from the 90s.

Fabi Paras one of the those DJs at the forefront of my mind.

Fabir Paras was one of the most well known Progressive house DJs from that era.  He had a big DJ ing career along with some excellent remixes and productions.

He then disappeared from the scene.  What happened to him?  Where is he now?  if you Google his name there are a number of stories about what happened to him.  One of the sadder stories is that got into Crack big time and ended up selling his prized record collection.

If anyone has any idea of his whereabouts please get in touch as I would love to interview him.

Anyway here is a very rare mix from him.

Enjoy.
