I found this mix on whilst searching for more mellow Andrew Weatherall mixes. Its a mix he did for BBC Radio as a tribute to his times spent with Primal Scream producing the Screamadelica album. For those who have never heard this record get out and buy it now. Its an absolute classic. This is one of those records, along with The Stone Roses defined an era and still sounds fantastic today.
It also has one of the greatest album covers ever. Infact I will start a page up which focuses just on great artwork for 90s dance / electronic album covers.

Higher Than the Sun (A Dub Symphony In Two Parts) - Primal Scream.
Heres another fantastic remix by Mr Weatherall. Another Sunday favourite of mine.
Only Love Can Break Your Heart (A Mix Of Two Halves)
This is one of best remixes ever IMO. It took what was already a fab song and took it to another level. Weatherall was very clever when he did this remix, because he still managed to keep the feel of the 'original' version.
This remix was a big favourite in Ibiza when it came out, and is still played over there today. THis for me is a perfect Sunday tune.
Chill out Sunday dedicated to Andrew Weatherall.
Todays Chill our will be dedicated to Lord Sabre himself. I will be posting Youtube links to some of my favourite remixes of his. plus later tonight will post a link to a very special mix that he recently did dedicated to Primal Screams - Screamadelica.
Have a relaxing Sunday and hope its not too cold for you. Living In Brighton does have its downside. we haven't had any snow yet!! A bit unfair when the rest of the country seems to be snowed in.

Happy Mondays - Hallelujah (club mix)
And another classic remix from Lord Sabre. This time he was joined by Paul Oakenfold in a joint remix. A very strange pairing that would not happen today, as their music styles now are too different and contradictory.
I was at college when this came out. Everyone seemed to jump on the baggy bandwagon. A group of us went up to Wembley (driven by my mum) to watch the Happy Mondays play there. It was a really good concert/rave. Loads of really good DJs playing. the Mondays were shambolic as to be expected. They were carefree and easier times.
F.S.O.L - Papua New Guinea (Andrew Weatherall Mix) 1991.wmv
Another classic remix from Andrew Weatherall.
Two Lone Swordsmen - Glide By Shooting
Lovely deep spacey house from Lord Sabre himself. I remember hearing this at The Bomb in Nottingham. A lovely underground club. I had a fantastic night there with a good friend. Although he and his sister had a big (if a bit amusing) falling out in the club.
Andrew Weatherall was in one room playing deep house and techno. David Holmes was in the other room playing one of his retro funk sets. It was so difficult deciding which room to be in as they were both on at the same time.
In fact this could be my favourite Weatherall record.

Luke Slater - All Exhale (Rude Solo Remix).wmv
Here's a less known remix done by Andrew Weatherall. The original is by Luke Slater who was one of the residents at Troll trivia fans. Its a bit electro/techno. Enjoy.
Primal Scream -Loaded (12 Inch Vinyl EP ) -1990
One of my first heard and still favourite Weatherall productions. This whole era that he spent with Primal Scream brings back many happy memories for me. i remember going to watch Primal Scream live in Brixton when Screamadelica came out. It was a memorable concert with great DJs on before an after the band.
The highlight for me though was The Orb in the upstairs corridor. Truly mind bending. This was followed by a trip down Trade afterwards. Probably one the best nights (and day) out I have ever had.
First ever Andrew Wetherall Essential Mix 1993.
http://soundcloud.com/djmixes/andrew-weatherall-essential-mix-13-11-1993
This is one of my favourite early Essential Mixes. The thing is with Andrew Weatherall is that you just cannot predict what he will be playing next. Ive seen him dj at gigs before Primal Scream and the Happy Mondays (both in the early 90s) and he was playing 'big room' house and techno from that era. Ive also heard him play fantastic deep house sets at The Bomb in Nottingham and Basics in Leeds. And a Rockabilly set at The Southbank.
Along with Laurent Garnier he is a true pioneer who never sold out. If you ever get the chance go and hear him - go.
I will be adding more of his stuff over the course of this weekend.

The first ever Essential Mix 1993.
Here is the first ever Essential mix. It was done by Pete Tong in 1993. It is hard to believe that its been nearly 20 years since the Essential mix started.
Personal favourites over the years have been Tony de Vit, Tall Paul, TWA, Pete Wardman and David Holmes.
This mix does sound a bit dated now. But its real slice of history. This mix came out in the days before mass market mix CDs, MP3S and the Internet.
Its was so difficult to get DJ mixes so when the Essential mix started it was something really new and exciting. I remember many a Sunday morning getting back from a club and taping these mixes.
Pete tong has never really been my favourite DJ. But credit where credit is due for bringing us these mixes.
Watch out for many more links to mixes in the future.

Hardcore mix 1991/92
http://soundcloud.com/redseal/dj-redseal-91-92-old-school-mix
Found this mix on Soundcloud. Its got loads of classics from 91/92. Its on on hardcore tip so will be for all those who remember Trade in its early Hardcore days or went to Sterns or Rage at heaven. It does get a bit jungley at times. But its still a good mix.
This mix has Zero B - Lock up on it. This is one of my all time favourite records and was massive at Trade. I think it was also remixed by Malcolm Duffy.
Lennie D Ice - We R IE

EGMA - Let the Bass Kick
X-Static - Free
After Dark - Asylum
Zero B - Lock Up
Doc Scott - Surgery

Urban Soul - Alright (Sasha Remix)
This was one of the God like (OK I will stop saying that before his name!) Sashas first remixes. Very much a classic.
This brings back a load of memories from the era I first got into clubs and raves. I think the first time I heard this out was in the upstairs (funky) room at Rage @ Heaven.
Enjoy.
1993 mix from the God like Sasha!!
Ive managed to find a mix in two parts by the God like Sasha in Australia in 1993. The total mix is just under 2 hours long. Not the best quality recording ever, but hey what do you expect its nearly 20 years old.

NUSH u girls
Sorry for the delay in putting any posts up since Sunday. Its been a very hectic week at work. I was going to do some posts last night but went to watch the new Harry Potter instead, which by the way is amazing - very dark and brooding.
Anyway I'm being a bit lazy tonight and posting a Youtube link. This link is a bit special today.
Its for a good friend of mine Shirley. Without going into too much detail and putting her private life on the net. She is having a very difficult time at the moment. I'm putting this link on the blog for her because I'm hoping this will put smile on her face. This is one of her favourite dance tunes. I have many happy memories of Shirley dancing round Leeds to this one.
Take care Shirley. Think of the happier time s ahead.
